The Introductory Course is designed for suitably qualified professionals interested in developing their understanding of psychoanalytic theory and therapeutic practice.
The course comprises 30 weeks of two-hour seminars with readings and clinical case discussions in a small group setting that focusses on:
* The development of the infant, the internal world and the personality
* Defences and common clinical presentations
* At work in the clinical setting: The practice of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
The 2027 course will be held in person only from 6:30pm to 8:30pm on Tuesday and or Wednesday evenings, beginning in March and finishing in November, with scheduled breaks during the Victorian school holidays. The course is held at the VAPP, 18 Erin Street, Richmond. Regular clinical work is a participant entry requirement. The seminar group is led by two VAPP member psychotherapists.
