The course comprises 30 weeks of two-hour seminars, once a week, with readings and case discussions in a small group setting focusing on:

  • The Development of the Personality
  • The Defences and Common Clinical Presentations
  • The Practice of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy

The Introductory Course Brochure outlines the aims, conceptual underpinnings, and course content. Courses are usually scheduled on Wednesday evenings between 6.30 – 8.30pm at the VAPP, 18 Erin Street, Richmond.

The fee for 2021 was $2500 (payable in 3 instalments), or $2300 paid in one instalment. Ordinarily a deposit of $900 is payable once an applicant has been offered a place in the course. Interviews are offered to suitable applicants based on the order of receipt of applications. Places are limited, so early application is advised. Relevant qualifications and access to current clinical work are essential.
