Introductory Course in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy

The course is designed for suitably qualified professionals interested in developing their understanding of psychoanalytic theory and therapeutic practice.

The course comprises 30 weeks of two-hour seminars, once a week, with readings and case discussions in a small group setting focusing on:

  • The Development of the Personality
  • The Defences and Common Clinical Presentations
  • The Practice of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy

The Introductory Course Brochure outlines the aims, conceptual underpinnings, and course content. Courses are usually scheduled on Wednesday evenings between 6.30 – 8.30pm at the VAPP, 18 Erin Street, Richmond.

Applications for the 2023 Course will soon close  – currently there is one space available. 


We welcome enquiries from applicants who feel that they may qualify for consideration.  The outcome for the successful applicant will be held in confidence.  The decision made by the Introductory committee will be final.
